Ibiza is really a magical experience but if you aren’t well advised it can turn into a real nightmare…
Most people rush to Café Del Mar because of their great lounge CDs they have been pumping out year after year. Although the bar and the view (at sunset) is quite nice, the crowd is a different story… Located in San Antonio (the not so exclusive side of the Ibiza island) it is surrounded by an array of low cost hotels in a “city” like environment. THIS IS NOT IBIZA! Don’t get me wrong, you should go there at least once, just to see this infamous land mark for yourself, but don’t leave it at that to make up your mind about Ibiza.
An other example of what you would be better off avoiding is Playa den Bossa. There are a few well known beach clubs there but you should try to avoid living there if you can. This enormous bay is packed with people from sunrise to sunset and is also very urban. You even have pick pockets on the beach… Nice right?
Ibiza offers dozens of less crowded beaches that will give you that authentic “vacation” feeling if you make the small effort of moving around on the island. Some of them are featured in the “Ibiza” category and many more can be found by word of mouth once on location, so make sure to go the extra mile and you’ll be sure to come back with a smile!
